Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Contact Lenses Now Available
For the first time, photochromic technology is being used in contact lenses, as part of a partnership between Transitions Optical and Johnson & Johnson Vision.
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology (a light-adaptive lens), a spherical contact lens with a bi-weekly replacement schedule, has been available since April 1st in the United States and Canada. No date has been set yet for Europe.
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology reduces the eye’s exposure to bright light, indoors and outdoors, while filtering harmful blue light and blocking UV rays.
Johnson & Johnson Vision also announced that Bryce Harper, one of Major League Baseball’s top players, is the ambassador for Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology. Bryce Harper will wear the lenses during the 2019 season and share his experience in a series of videos. “My visual comfort is very important for reacting quickly on the field, no matter the lighting conditions,” says Bryce Harper. He adds: “Since I’ve been wearing Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology to prepare for the new season, I squint less and see better.”
“These lenses are the result of extensive research (more than 10 years of R&D) into consumer needs and expectations. Clinical trials involving more than 1,000 patients were needed to develop this technology. Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology will help wearers better adapt to all lighting conditions in their daily lives and activities,” said Thomas Swinnen, President of Johnson & Johnson Vision North America.
As a reminder, Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology was recently named one of the “Best Inventions of 2018” by Time Magazine.
